25071. Sacred Heaven / SeongHoon Park, Hwi Dan, SangWon Jeong, SeongWoo Lim

Agenda

During the Jubilee, the divine might descend to the human world, momentarily touching the earth like the wind rustling in the present. This concept guided our design, using the architectural language of the Virgin Mary’s veil, placed on a wooden grid structure. We designed a variable facade by lifting the fabric with translucent material and wire, revealing preserved ruins on the ground floor while providing shading and aesthetic effects above.

Inspired by the phrase “There is a moment when the divine passes by everyone”, we designed a temporary building on a grass field, minimizing disruption. The lawn was preserved, with the design giving the impression that divide passed through briefly, leaving the site untouched.

The interior is divided into four section. The main path leads to shops and restaurants, while the left side offers a meditation path. Visitors pass through an information center and existing ruins to reach an accommodation block beneath the veil-like structure, while includes a holy lounge for expiation and a breathing lounge for weary pilgrims.
